Tampa Hackerspace First Aid Course

Most people will be involved in a crisis at some point in their lives. Whether it’s witnessing a medical emergency or being on the scene of an accident, emergencies will happen. First aid training and incident management skills empower people to step up and take action in these scenarios.

There is an e-learning portion of this class that must be completed prior to the in-person event. The e-learning will take 4-6 hours to complete. Please plan accordingly. 

This fundamental course prepares you to provide proper care for life-threatening illnesses or injuries until professional emergency medical care is available. This event is broken up into two days. 

Day 1: Basic Life Support / AED
Day 2: First Aid

Day 1: Life-support skills:

• One- and two-rescuer CPR for adults, children, and infants
• Use of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs)
• Bleeding management
• Assisting choking victims
• Responding to a person in shock. 

Day 2: First Aid:

• conducting secondary assessments 
• Splinting 
• Responding to medical emergencies.
